YOU WILL BUILD EXCEPTIONAL THINGS
We’re looking for an experienced technical specialist to join our team on a project in the transport sector. You’ll contribute to a high-impact EU initiative transforming freight and dangerous goods transport, directly supporting greater efficiency, transparency, and sustainability in the movement of goods across Europe.
This position is ideal for an experienced developer who is confident in taking initiative and responsibility. Strong organizational skills are essential, as the role involves researching, documenting, and presenting integrations with digital signature, encryption, and payment systems. You’ll work alongside a team with expertise in the transport domain, building on their knowledge while taking ownership of your work and driving initiatives forward independently.
The tech stack is primarily backend-focused (Java), ensuring robustness, scalability, and performance for mission-critical components. Certain parts of the project also touch on analytics and GIS, offering opportunities to contribute to these areas depending on your interests and background.
The environment is fast-paced, with short and immovable deadlines, so you’ll need to bring both technical excellence and a proactive mindset.
WHAT THIS ROLE IS ABOUT
- Research, document, and present integration possibilities with external systems (digital signature, encryption, payment)
- Communicate about findings, challenges, and proposed solutions
- Contribute to system architecture decisions and ensure scalability under heavy load
- Design and implement backend services in a transaction-heavy system that meets strict performance and reliability requirements
- Optionally contribute to analytics and GIS components of the project, depending on your expertise and interests
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- Ability to take ownership of tasks, work independently, and deliver under tight deadlines
- Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Strong experience in backend development with Java
- Solid understanding of transaction-heavy systems and performance optimization
- Familiarity with databases and data modeling for high-throughput applications
- Proficiency in building and consuming REST APIs
- Experience with version control (Git) and modern CI/CD practices
- Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and environments
NICE TO HAVE:
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Curiosity and willingness to learn about the transport and logistics domain
- Knowledge of GIS systems, mapping technologies, or analytics platforms
